The Abu Zahra Foundation Madrasa is an after-school facility for children aged 5-16 years. The Madarsa curriculum includes a number of streams: Foundation Madrasa, Road to Scholarship, and Qur'an Memorisation. It has been carefully and skilfully crafted with the aim of providing young Muslims with a solid religious foundation for progressing in the modern world.

Foundation Madrasa: Most children join the Madrasa at the age of 5 or 6, (Year 1), although students can join at any age. Enrolment for each year takes place in September each year. Students are placed into classes based on their school year group progressing through a Qur’an reading and memorisation of du’as. Students also follow an Islamic studies curriculum from Year 3 through to Year 11, when they sit a GCSE examination in Islamic Studies.

Road to Scholarship: The Road to Scholarship programme is designed for young students as an introduction to the traditional Islamic Sciences on a part-time basis in a three-year programme for students to commence in Year 8.  Taught by our experienced and well qualified teachers learning will be rigorous and intensive while delivered in a relaxed and engaging environment.

Students will attain a solid foundation in all of the traditional Islamic Sciences, as well as the Arabic Language with particular focus on Qur’anic Arabic. The course will avail sufficient religious knowledge to the young student to live their lives as committed Muslims and to also teach others. It will also enable those who have the desire, to pursue intermediate and advanced studies in the various Shariah disciplines, having acquired the necessary tools to progress to further study.

Qur'an Memorisation Academy: A unique programme combining the best practice of the traditional Arab system of memorisation which focuses heavily on takra(group repetition) placing great emphasis on correct pronunciation (tajwid) and the Indian Subcontinent method of muraji’ah (consistent review). This will produce memorisers of the Qur’an with clarity and precision in recitation as well as excellent retention, in sha’ Allah.

Class size will be small to maximise student-teacher interaction. On-going parent consultation and feedback will ensure that students excel in achieving their daily targets for memorisation.
